Q: What is Kydex?

A: Kydex is a thermoplastic alloy of PVC and Acrylic.  It's formed with heat and pressure to form different shapes.

Q: Why not just get a leather holster?

A: Leather holsters have been a favorite for a number of years.  They can be beautifully hand-crafted works of art when properly done.  Ultimately leather holsters are sensitive to temperature, moisture, and humidity.  Leather doesn't dry easily; if you leave a re-holstered gun in a wet leather holster, it can cause pitting, as tru with other fabrics like Nylon.  Leather holsters usually require a break-in period and constant maintenance.  Re-holstering can be difficult.  They wear out.  Poorly made ones can also be dangerous and may cause accidental discharge or slide cocking.  Kydex holsters are virtually maintenance-free.  If a Kydex holster were ever to get dirty, you can wash it out with cold water and wipe it down.  Kydex holsters are ready to use right awayl they don't have a break-in period.  They will maintain their desired shape over a lifetime of use.  While un-holstering and re-holstering a gun in a Kydex holster is louder than clearing and returning a gun to a leather or fabric holster, Kydex holster owners get a more reliable and secure re-holstering experience by the audible click they make.  They are not temperature or moisture sensitive.  Kydex holsters take a beating and still perform well. 

Q: What is the purpose of the sweatshield and is it standard on all holsters?

A: The sweat shield aids in keeping the firearm separated from your body and helping to reduce the chance of fabric getting into the holster during use.  At leasat a slight sweat shield is built into all YetiTac holsters.  During your order you can specify if you would like a full or low-rise sweatguard.

Q: Will Kydex scratch my firearm?

A: All holsters can scratch your firearm because they all contact the surfaces of your firearm in one way or another. Kydex is less likely to scratch your firearm due to the fact that the inside is smooth and shiny.  All of our YetiTac Holsters are safe to wash in cold water in your kitchen sink.  Please don't put them in the dishwasher as they are not dishwasher safe.

Q: I don't see my firearm on your list of available molds or choices on the order page.  Can you make a holster for my firearm? 

A: In most cases the answer is Yes.  Just send us a message on the "Contact Us" page and we will make sure we have access to a real gun or can obtain a mold and we will get right back to you.

Q: Do you make knife sheathes?

A: Yes, we do.  Send us a message on the "Contact Us" page and let us know what you are looking for.  We will quote you a price after we have all the info we need to estimate your build.  Once we give you the quote, if you want to have your sheathe built, use the "Custom Request" page and choose the applicable amount on the custom work item and complete your order.  After that is done, just ship us the knife.  When the knife and materials come in, we will build your custom sheath and send it all back to you!  It's that easy!  

Q: What is your Warranty?

A: All of our YetiTac Kydex products are covered with our Limited Lifetime Warranty.  We agree to fix or replace any product purchased from us in case of product failure.  This is limited to materials and craftsmanship only.  We cannot honor warranty claims due to user negligence. Negligence includes lost or missing hardware, reheating of Kydex whether unintentional or not (keep in mind the heat of your vehicle exposed to sun in the summer is not the best home for your rig), or any other intentional modifications of your rig.

If you have a warranty claim, please use the Contact Us form to submit your claim.

Regarding hardware, YetiTac recommends that you check all attachment hardware (screws, posts, etc) for tightness before each use. Additionally, we recommend the use of a thread locking product (loctite or the like) to help hold the screws in place after you have set them to your preference.

Q: What is your Returns Policy?

YetiTac works to put out the best product possible to suit your needs.  If you have questions, please email us prior to ordering using the Contact Us form on the website.  We will do our best to help you make the right decision.  We furnish quite a lot of information about each style of holster, please use the website and our Facebook YetiTac Gear Discussion Group as quality resources in your research.

In the event that your holster does not work out for you, we do offer a 30 day exchange for store credit. 30 days is calculated from date of shipping for your item.  To complete a return or exchange, contact us by email at yetitac@gmail.com or by completing the contact us form on the homepage.  Let us know what you are experiencing along with your order number.  We will set you up with the information about how to return the item.  When the item is received, we will inspect it to verify it is in the condition which it was sent to you. When this process is completed, a store credit will be issued on your account in the amount paid, less a restocking fee of 20%.

If the item has been modified in any way by the end user, the item may not be eligible for return or exchange.

All refunds issued past 24 hours from ordering will be will issued as a store credit on your user account. 

Q: How long will it take to get my holster?

A: Our current lead time is always listed on our Home Page.  This is because each holster is built to order which sometimes necessitates the order or parts, materials and molds.  We strive to build them as quickly as we can and still maintain the quality that has made YetiTac a popular brand with our customers. 

Q: What payment options do you accept?

A: Online we accept all payments on our website through PayPal and PayPal credit processing.  If you are having an item completely custom built, we will invoice you through paypal for your build.  In person, we use the PayPal or Square card readers and we accept cash.

Q: When do I pay for my order?

A: Full payment is required at the time of order whether in person or online.  This allows us to purchase the materials for your build in a timely manner as most of our items are built to order. 

Q: Can/Will you build items other than what you have listed?

A: Yes, in some cases we will/do.  The items in question will be quoted as custom work on a case by case basis. 

Q: How can I get a discount?

A: We have sales on occasion, special package deals, and we offer a few special programs for discounts from time to time.  The best place to keep up with us for these specials is on our Facebook page, our Twitter Feed or our Instagram feed.

Q: Do you offer an LEO or Military Discount?

A: Yes, we do offer those discounts.  They are 10% off on our gear all the time.  If we are running a special that is greater than 10% off, you can choose to use that coupon code in lieu of the LEO/Military discount.  If you are an LEO or Military, Active or Veteran, contact us at YetiTac@gmail.com for info on how to obtain your discount.

Q: How do I know when you are working on my holster?

A: Info regarding order status: By placing an order in our system, your default order status is: "Awaiting Fulfilment."  This means we have recieved your order, we have put your parts and material needs on the purchase order list and have ordered in the necessary components to build your custom, made to order items.  As soon as parts come in and your order number is next in line to be on the bench to be built, your order status will change to "In Production."  This means we are actively working on your build at the moment.  As soon as it is complete, it will be packaged and shipped out.  At this time, your order status will reflect the change to "Shipped."  When this happens, you will receive an email notifying you of this change along with a tracking number to track your custom item in the mail.  

Q: I placed my order a few days ago? When will my order ship?

A: We get this question more times than you would expect.  The current estimated lead time is listed on the main page of the website and is updated to reflect the current state of lead times at YetiTac.  It also is listed at the bottom of the email you got that confirmed your order being placed which also contains your order number.  The process by which we handle incoming orders, to build, and shipping is now also listed at the bottom of this email.  If you are within the current estimated lead time, please do not email us asking when your holster will be done.  We are currently a small shop and when we stop to answer an email question, for which an answer has been provided in many different areas and timeframes, it slows us down.  We would prefer to be building your gear and the gear in line before yours to get to your order faster, rather than informing you that you are still within the current estimated lead time.  Thank you for your patience.  If you have an order number, we have you in the queue and will build your order as soon as possible. 

Q: I have a question or a change on my order, what is the best way to contact you regarding this?

A: Always reply to the email you got which contains your order number.  This aids us greatly in being able to pull your order sheet and make the changes or give you information regarding your order as quickly as possible.  Some changes may not be able to be accomodated after a certain point depending on what the change is.  Everything is custom and we buy parts and materials a while before your build hits the bench so everything is ready to go when your build comes up as ready to be built.

Generally, the easiest way for us to make changes if it's anything drastic like changing a color or gun mold, we will cancel the order and refund the amount to store credit.  This allows you to replace the order with the new spcifications and keeps our lines running smoothly.

Q: I have a shop and I would like to carry some YetiTac gear as a dealer.  Do you offer dealer discounts or wholesale pricing?
